Rantakylä Recreational Area
Every municipality in Finland would like to have this kind of recreational area, where you can do almost anything: swimming, frisbee golf, cross-country skiing, beach volley, fat bike trails, ice swimming, downhill sledging, etc.
Ala-Kestilä Arboretum – A park for trees
Ala-Kestilä Arboretum is park for different tree species. This unique place is situated in a very small valley created by the Liminka river. The area is so low, that it has it’s own micro climate and therefore it is ideal for different species to grow. The park has been established in the 1930s and has been taken care of since.
Liisa’s Castle – outside adventure park
Liisa’s Castle is a wooden castle next to the river Temmes. It is built by an award-winning scout leader Markku ’Make’ Korhonen. Liisa’s Castle offers you an adventure outside, either by getting familiar with the Castle itself or by playfully conquering it. Once again – truly unique in Finland!
Liminka Trails – For hikers and bikers
Liminka has renowned trails in the forest. That are fully marked. It means that, when you are standing next to the route marker, you can always see the next one, so you don’t get lost and you can safely enjoy the trails day and night. Our trails have been nominated in the Finnish trails competition in 2019 and we ended up to the final. So you are warmly welcomed to enjoy our forest trails and in the winter time – the trail over the frozen sea!
